Throw rugs can be used for a variety of things and can be used outdoors or indoors. If there is a specific spot in your living room, dining room or bedroom that you are trying to bring attention to, using a throw rug is a great way to get peoples attention. If you're going to be using one for the entire floor, be sure to leave some room on the side as a border for a nice touch.

If you're going to be using one in the kitchen, a lot of people like putting one in front of the sink. They sell special rugs just for this and if you are decorating your kitchen in particular theme such as apples, or sunflowers, you can often find them to match.

A lot of people like to put them in their laundry areas in front of the washer and dryer.  You can find them in many different styles, lengths and even shapes.

If you're using one in a hallway, you need to consider how many people and how much people will be walking down there.  If it is going to be walked on quite a bit, you will want to get one with more of a pattern so that wear will be less noticeable.  If it's in an area that is not used often, you can choose a throw rug with a lighter color or less of a pattern.

Using them in the living room or the family room is a great way to bring the look of the room together.  If it's a smaller space, you will want to go with a smaller sized rug in a lighter color.  The lighter the color, the more spacious the room will appear.  A great place to put one is in front of a fireplace.  You will want to choose one that is attractive and coordinates with other decorative items you already have in the room.  You could also place one in front of  the couch or love seat.  Adding a rug here will give a little extra cushion and warmth, and it also will be a good look under a nice coffee table or a nice end table.  When using a rug underneath a coffee table or end table, make sure that it is big enough to cover all four legs of the table.

Bathroom Throw Rugs

When using a throw rug under a dining room table, get a larger size such as one that is eight foot.

When choosing one for your bathroom, you will want to get a smaller rug in a color that compliments your shower curtain, the color of your walls, and other bathroom accessories. Many stores selling matching bathroom accessories that include such items as throw rugs with the same type of design.

If you're looking for a rug for your bedroom, consider some aspects before you choose a throw rug. Consider what size of throw rug you want, what shape, what color and design you can get to look good with the bedroom decor you already have, and what kind of material. Throw rugs can be made in a variety of different materials including chenille, wool and bamboo. Chenille is very soft to the touch, and give a lovely look, especially if you're going for a romantic or feminine feel to the room. Wool is a very durable and strong material that comes in many different designs and can be used for anyone's bedroom. Bamboo is growing in popularity due to the fact that is it very environmentally friendly. If you're all about living green these days, consider getting a rug made of this!

Sizes Of Throw Rugs

Size is your next factor. If you're going to be trying to cover the length of the room, you will want to get one about 8 x 11. This is a good choice if your floor is not carpeted. You may also consider adding a rug pad underneath if this is the case. If your floor is already carpeted, consider getting a throw rug to put in front of your dresser or at the foot of your bed.

A circular rug is a great way to add a different look to your bedroom. Many stores also sell rugs in unique shapes to match the rooms theme. For example, if you're decorating a little boys' room in a "frog" theme, they sell rugs in the shape of a frog. They are very cute, and add that extra something to the whole over-all look. You could consider getting one in the shape of a bear if your bedroom has a "cabin" or "wilderness" theme.
